Description1840, New edition edited by J O Westwood, small folio (28x380cms), engraved frontispiece depicting two elegantly dressed 18th century gentlemen collecting butterflies in a woodland glade both holding clap-nets, floral scroll decorative engraved title-page, Preface, Introduction xi, anatomical diagram, 84 pages, 44 line engraved plates (plain) each displaying several figures of butterflies, moths, caterpillars, dragonflies and other insects with many foodplants, an immaculate copy recently rebound in half morocco, spine with raised bands gilt lettering in panels, marbled boards, gilt stamped labelling on front cover, Henry H Bohn. A very rare uncoloured copy presents a good opportunity to acquire an Aurelian on a relatively economic budget.
