Description1924, 2 volumes folio, with foreword dated 1914 by Lord Rothschild, who sponsored Frohawk's work for several decades, 4 plain and 60 colour plates each with many images of all the butterfly life-stages depicted in minute detail some copied through the microscope, Frohawk took nearly thirty years to breed all the British butterfly species in order to obtain accurate and original paintings and the results are arguably the best illustrations by any artist, the books are in good condition in the standard blue cloth binding and with the plates in clean fresh state.
